The Festival of Lights was proclaimed to be the best event of 2017 in the Czech Republic on Thursday, 3 May, in the new area of DOX+ in Prague. The unique Moravian festival won the prize as part of the Annual Awards of the Czech Event Association in the B2P Event category (the public project category). The entire event, which took place on 15 September in the square in Valašské Meziříčí, was prepared by the production association Festival Světel Valašsko with the support of AV MEDIA, the Czech member of oneAVteam. The second year of the festival will take place on 7 September this year.
“I’m very glad that we’ve won first place in a field of strong competitors of major events like the Colours of Ostrava or the Ynspirology creative festival. This was thanks to the unique concept that combines a festival of light with a music festival,” stated festival organizer Pavel Röder, adding: “This year we’re preparing an even more interesting programme thanks to three stages, videomapping on the Bečva River and plenty of gastronomic delicacies.”
The Czech Event Association bestowed its annual awards for the best events in five categories and had to evaluate over 30 registered projects. The jury was selected and composed of independent experts, event promoters and event marketing agents and suppliers.
The project was launched by AV MEDIA, a partner of the festival. “We’re very pleased with the award,” said Filip Klein, the Project Manager of this project. “We wanted to show that even a low-budget regional event could compete with the huge events of multinational companies with its quality and impact. Recognition for this project is a clear sign for us that our initiative is well founded, that we can arrange and organize it well, not only for the public, but also for the experts.”
About the Festival of Lights
It is an all-encompassing festival of lights and music in a small Wallachian town. Valašské Meziříčí, like a city festival in the form of videomapping and installations (lighting projections), ranks among world metropolises such as Prague, Berlin, Paris or New York. The entire programme is completely free of charge for those attending.
